this image, for Greg Ip's article, hints at the ambiguous, arbitrary, temporal and, at times, stupid nature of Rules. the red Line differentiates the two figures which are otherwise rather similar. furthermore, their roles are interchangeable - dependent on social consensus, geolocation or perhaps just luck.
